HIGH-SCORE Program

The High-Score Program is designed to give recognition to those MAAHA members who compete with their horses (Arabian or Half-Arabian) at rated and unrated horse shows.  Once you enter the program, You need to keep complete records of show placings and submit the best four show results prior to the deadline date.  The best three are used and the fourth serves as a tie breaker.  In January/February of the following year MAAHA holds it's year end banquet where all winners are announced and trophies/ribbons presented.

GENERAL RULES

  1. All entrants must be current members of MAAHA, in good standing, with all dues paid.
  2. Entry fee is $10.00 per horse, plus $8.00 for each division entered. 
  3. All entries sent must be postmarked by JUNE 30.
  4. All entries must be in writing.
  5. In the event that a horse entered in High Score is transferred to a new owner, the points may be transferred with the horse provided the High Score secretary is notified of the change in ownership in writing.  The new owner will be required to become a member of MAAHA with dues paid before awards will be released to the new owner.
  6. Points earned at any rated or unrated show may be counted, as per the division guidelines.
  7. Points from the Nationals, futurities, or other year end programs may not be used for the High Score Program.
  8. NJ Breed Show points may be counted as an unrated show only.
  9. Points may be used for one division only.
  10. It is the responsibility of the entrant to keep complete records of placings or scores, and to submit the four best shows prior to the point deadline. The three best shows to count towards awards. The fourth show points will be used for tie breaking only.
  11. All Arabian Shows held back to back will be counted as a single show.  IEEastern Arabian and East Coast Championships, The Arabian Adventure series I and II, and the NJHAHA series I and II.  Others will be considered as they become available.
  12. Shows that provide multiple judges, the best two judges will be counted.  ie Pinto Shows and the NJ All Breed.
  13. Deadline for submission of points is DECEMBER 1st.  Point returns must be postmarked by the deadline date.
  14. Entrants are encouraged to submit verification of points from the show secretaries; otherwise the High Score secretary reserves the right to verify any points.
  15. Submit point returns to the High Score Secretary: Deborah Shinn, 1718 Williamsburg Pl., Clementon, NJ 08021.  Entry and point return forms are available from our website, www.MAAHA.org
  16. All winners will be announced at the MAAHA annual banquet and the results will be published.
  17. The top 5 will be awarded as follows: Top 5 Champion, Top 5 Reserve, and the remaining Top 5. 
  18. The Top 5 Champion to receive a trophy.
  19. All High Score placings are final.
  20. Year End High Point Awards will be awarded and points calculated as follows:
    High Point Halter - High point earned in combined performance sections.
    High Point Performance - High points earned in combined performance sections.
    High Point Sport Horse - High point earned in combines Sport Horse sections.

SECTIONS/DIVISIONS

HALTER SECTION
All Arabian A-rated Shows Only to Count

  1. PB Halter - Mares, Stallions & Geldings, any age.
  2. HA Halter - Mares & Geldings, any age.
  3. Amateur to Handle - PB, HA, AOTH, & ATH classes only, same horse.

PERFORMANCE SECTION
All Arabian A-rated Shows Only to Count

Classes are open to Purebred and Half Arabians.

  1. Western Pleasure - Open and Amateur classes to count.
  2. English Pleasure - Open and Amateur classes to count.
  3. Working - English and Western.  Over fences, trail, reining, working cow, cutting and sport horse classes.
  4. Hunter Pleasure - Open and Amateur classes to count.
    (Show jumping is to be counted as Sport Horse only)
  5. Country English Pleasure - Open and Amateur classes to count.
  6. Working - Trail, Reining, Working Cow, and Cutting.
  7. Specialty - Any show hack, liberty, sidesaddle, native costume and driving classes.
    (Sport Horse Driving is to be counted as Sport Horse only)

OPEN/UNRATED SHOWS

  1. Halter/Showmanship - PB & HA in hand classes only.
  2. Western  - Pleasure and working classes only.
  3. English - Pleasure, hack and working class only.

ADDITIONAL RECOGNITION SECTION

New Rider - Awarded to rider in their first or second year of showing.  Walk/trot classes rated and unrated to count.

Other Breed - Other than PB & HA.  All classes can be included.  Three best shows to count.

  Sport Horse Section

In-Hand - PB and H/A Maes, Geldings and Stallions.

Under Saddle and Show Hack - PB and H/A.

Show Jumping - PB and H/A.

Driving - PB and H/A.

Points will be calculated for the 4 best shows based on show scores rather than placings as follows:

YOUTH SECTION

Our youth program is a separate awards program and requires a separate entry.  The entry fee for our Youth awards is $10.00 per youth, plus $8.00 per horse entered by the youth.  Awards are presented to the youth and all show points earned are to count except Nationals, futurities or other year end programs. Arabian, Half-Arabian and all other breeds are eligible for the youth awards.  Youth are required to be members of MAAHA, in good standing, with all dues paid.  The top 5 will be awarded as follows:  Top 5 Champion, Top 5 Reserve and the remaining Top 5.  The Top 5 Champion will receive a trophy.

If there are more than 6 entries, a special award will be presented to an Arabian horse and child combination.
