August 18th court hearing
The Judge (Christine Allen-Jackson) ordered the
following:
Once a week, two vets will meet on the farm to
examine the horses. They are Dr. Newman (vet contracted by the SPCA) and
another vet Meyers or Meers (don't know who he works for, probably Stuebing).
They are to confer on the status of each horse and take the appropriate
action (medication, special feed, etc.) and agree on a solution.
- She mentioned that Dr. Newman has not seen the
horses for a month.
She ordered the stalls to be cleaned DAILY
(apparently, this was a problem the SPCA complained of).
She ordered that a farrier examine each horse
and that the appropriate action by taken to correct any problems.
She said the SPCA can still make their
police-escorted visits, but those visits are not to coincide with the vets'
meeting on the farm
She also ordered the SPCA to be more careful and
take the appropriate precautions necessary to avoid "cross contamination".
There must have been some talk about the SPCA visiting another farm, and
possibly bringing something contagious to this farm. I don't know if that
it true or not, but the Judge did tell Captain Goldberg, he is to take
appropriate precautions, and to check with the State EPA if he needs to.
She said Stuebing is not allowed to interfere
with either the Doctors' visits or the SPCA's visits.
The appeal hearing is scheduled for
September 29th.
